Be Well Mendota Projects

The City of Mendota has begun writing grants and expanding services
to support residents to Live, Work, Play, and Be Well. 

Below is a list of the current grant or loan funded projects.

Working in the Garden

Live Well

The City of Mendota received a Partnership for Success grant. Dollars support early-dismissal activities for youth 5th-12th grade. A youth-leadership program has been developed. Other activities include efforts to prevent youth use and adult misuse. 

Digital Artist

Work Well

The City of Mendota received a Farm Bureau grant that will fund Business Support Services. New, established and potential business owners can receive support for:: Business plan development,

Business coaching, Marketing and promotion, Networking, and On-line Google Certificates.

OSLAD Grant

The City of Mendota is committed to the revitalization of its parks and recreation. The City received an Open Space Land Acquisition and Development grant. Funds will assist with the updates and expansion of amenities at Strouss Park.

EPA Brownfield Grant

The City of Mendota received an EPA Brownfield Grant to assist with the demolition, remediation, and planning for development at 807 Illinois Ave.

Safe Routes to School Grant

City of Mendota received a Non-Infrastructure and Infrastructure grant. Sidewalks will be added and replaced around Lincoln Elementary. Walk audits will be conducted to create a comprehensive plan for all routes to schools.

UPDATES: 

Contract for sidewalks at Lincoln School have been signed. 

Bids have been posted and awarded to Lochner group for the comprehensive plan.

WasteWater Building Updates

The City of Mendota will invest about $8.3 million to update its Headworks Building and SCADA. Thank you to the Illinois EPA Revolving Loan (Loan #L17-6118 / Permit # 2023-AB-68230) construction will begin this Spring. for Phase 1.
